Ray
Hallgreen has lived on the Jersey Shore for many years and enjoys living there
quite a bit. Ray finds solace in living in a town that turns from bustling in
the summer to laidback in the off season. Living in a resort area where the
"People up North" (New York Metropolitan Area) can't seem to understand
how people could survive in such a desolate place pleases him. When you live
in an enviornment with no distractions life can be very fulfilling. Laidback
is Ray's middle name. One issue of Eastern Surf Magazine said "Hallgreen
has evolved over the years into one of our very best, giving us a beautiful
palette of colors, moods and images to paint on these pages."
Ray has been a personal friend of the owner of Big D for more
years than most of you are old. From Big D's viewpoint, good photography comes
from within, not from the equipment. At 48 Ray still surfs. Big D cannot overemphesize
the fact that you are as young as your body, there's no reason to let it go
because of your age. Ray is still very young at heart. Keep your eyes posted
for the non-surfing side of Hallgreen on this site. Almost all shots of the
Hallgreen collection are of somewhere in New Jersey. If you haven't surfed here,
don't mock it! New Jersey rocks when there is a storm and storms hit NJ. at
an alarming rate. When the summer is over the prevaling wind is offshore. Hear
that, "offshore". NJ. has more offshore winds than
any other place in the East Coast that Big D knows of. In NJ., Ray rules. Enjoy!
